Getting Lost visiting the Pyramids and the Lucha Libre

The next day I headed to Teotihuacan. These are pyramids about an hour and a half north of Mexico City. I took an uber with four others from the hostel but our driver got lost along the way, so it ended up taking us over two hours. Once we arrived, we had some Tamales at a nearby food stand and headed inside the historic area. I am not going to try and explain the history of these pyramids… its quite complex but there was basically a large civilization that occupied this area. It really was fascinating, and these pyramids were huge. We climbed up them. It was exhausting but the view was incredible.

We headed back in the early afternoon and tried to get back by bus since there were no ubers/taxis roaming the area, but we got lost… We ended up getting off and ordering an uber from wherever we ended up. However, while waiting, we got tacos… I probably had the best taco of my life on this random street corner! I, unfortunately, don't know the name of the place or where we were in Mexico City for that matter. I think that just made the taco that much better when I think back as I know I'll never find that place again.

Random bus we took back to the city.

Anyway, before calling it a day, I went to see the murals at the Palacio National. These were really cool and it was closed when I tried going earlier in the week so wanted to make sure to stop by. They were done by Diego Rivera (Frida Kahlo's husband).

Earlier that week, I booked an evening through the hostel where they take you to a Lucha Libre fight. Being a huge wrestling fan as a kid (go Rey Mysterio!), this was one of the coolest things I saw. For someone who is not a fan of WWE wrestling, they probably would find it stupid. The wrestling is all fake and the story line is always the same. Its usually a good guy/girl/team vs. a bad guy/girl/team. The bad wrestler(s) cheats and usually gets away with things without the referee seeing but the good guy finds a way to win… but its so entertaining!!! Anyway, we had a great time and ended up going out for drinks after. I went to Tacos Los Cucoyos again that night!
