Holbox, Yucatan

Holbox (pronounced Hobosh) is a little island off the north coast of Yucatan (the state in which you will find Cancun). It’s a three-hour bus ride from Tulum so I got there just after lunch after taking a ferry from the mainland.

The island does not have good drainage.

I unpacked and decided to walk long the beach to Playa Coco on the island. This area is supposed to have the best sunsets and it did not disappoint. I got a ton of photos of birds hanging out by the beach. However, the highlight was the flamingos at sunset.

...waiting.

Starting to set

I had to work the following day as I didn’t have a vacation day. It was a pretty productive day even though the internet was poor. I was able to catch up on all the unread messages and things I had missed that day.

To be honest, I was also a bit sick, so I didn’t do much else and ate my way through the next 48 hours before heading to Cancun for my flight back.

Ceviche de la Chingada (apparently, the best Ceviche on the island)!

Eventually, I made it! First time, I ended up at a different restaurant and the second time, they were closed.

The different restaurant, still bomb.

My staple... fish tacos

Best taco spot on the island. Round I.

Round II (sans queso). I believe tacos should be without cheese!

Flan for dessert.
