Canadians in Cuba (Shocking, I know)

This was a post-Asia trip I did with some high school friends. I went back to Toronto for a concert after going through Asia (which was actually the best night of these crazy five weeks of traveling... story for another day). Anyway, we stayed at a resort in Varadero which was an awesome time because of all the freestyling we did and the nights out we had, but I don’t know if I would do it again the same way. To me, the only thing that made the resort worth it was the all-inclusive drinks but alcohol was cheap in Cuba anyway (a bottle of Havanna Club costs like 8 USD). The food was real average (but all you can eat) and I met more Canadians in Cuba than I would on an average day in Toronto. On top of that, we would leave the resort at night anyway and so if I were to go back, I would definitely stay in a hostel or homestay to actually embrace Cuban culture... because let’s be honest, Cuban culture isn’t Canadians drinking on a beach all day.

However, while we were there, we managed to wake up early enough one day to go on an excursion off the resort. We went snorkeling (and I did not feed any fish... this time.) and saw some of the scenery in the area and it was unreal!

The resort!

The moment everything changed... we met Louie! The sickest taxi driver around, he took us everywhere.

Chillin' in Louie's car

Post-Dinner with Louie

We met a guy who worked at the resort who played basketball... so that happened!

Drive to the game with Louie

Arguing a flagrant foul.

They tried to give us rum at half-time...

The ride home after the game

Caught the sunrise one morning

Greatest morning

After picking up some souvenirs

Chillin' with Felix

More animals... lizard vs. snake.

Another sunrise, decided to go to the roof of the resort for the view!

Wanted to go a bit higher!

Trying to crack my back

Think it worked...

Climbing a tree for some reason.

We did leave the resort for a one day excursion, pretty good morning on the Catamaran

Went snorkelling!
